Herrerín: "I think the team are aware and hungry"
Valencia CF are heading to Saudi Arabia to play in the Spanish Supercopa. One of the players who knows the Middle East country well is goalkeeper Iago Herrerín, who played for Al Raed last season. He spoke to VCF Media about his adaptation to the team, the Supercopa and football in Saudi Arabia.
Making his debut
I got my debut the other day. I'd only previously played in friendlies for the club. I feel more comfortable every day, and the team and the coach have been spectacular with me. They've shown incredible confidence in me, right from the start. Everybody, whether they play or not, is available for the coach to help as much as possible in games and in training. Everybody wants to play more, but with hard work, humility and aware that it's the coach who decides.
The Supercopa
The Supercopa can see you have a good game and be one win away from a trophy. I think that the team are aware of this and are hungry. I don't think any team has been hugely superior to us, I think that we can have a good competition and give joy to the fans and ourselves.
Real Madrid are one of the best clubs in the world, and have the best players. All of them can hurt you. We have a great side against us, but we know that over a single game we can hurt them and compete well.

Excitement about the opportunity for a trophy
When you get to a semifinal you have morale at a high. A final is the best, wherever it is, in whatever competition. Knowing we can win a trophy has to make us excited, and we will go for it.
Adapting to the group and the club
The group have been spectacular with me since I got here. I'd played against the majority of them. We've all been united and push each other when we need to -as well as laughing when we need to. We need to take advantage of this harmony to do good things on the pitch, which is what we want.
The fans support us, wherever they are. We always feel their support. At Valencia CF, a big club in Spain, you don't go into a competition without intending to win it. That's our mentality, and we'll try to get a trophy that would make everybody happy.
